Simulation of Fracture Phenomena in Impact Loaded Granular Solids
What happens when chiselling?
How does rock or concrete behave when it is edited with a chisel? How do the waves of individual hammer blows influence the failure process, i.e. the breaking off of fragments? And above all, how can these processes be represented in simulations? The aim of this subproject is to develop the Discrete Element Method (DEM) so those questions can be answered.
